Tech Tip 014 – Change Windows 10 Default Browser

Should you want to change the default web browser on your Windows 10 computer, click on the Start icon in the lower-left of your screen and type set default. Select Choose a default web browser from the results.

In this Settings menu, click on Web browser and choose the web browser of your choice. Now all web links you click on will automatically launch with your selected web browser.

Tech Tip 012 – Ninite – your secret weapon for Windows

The talented folks at Ninite made installing Windows programs easy…and updating software easier. Go to their website at www.ninite.com and click on the software titles you want from a fairly extensive list:

Click the blue button at the bottom of the page that says “Get Your Ninite” to download a small .exe installer. Ninite installs your software quietly in the background without the usual wizard. Shortcuts will appear on your desktop when installation has completed.

Bonus tip: Right-click on your Ninite .exe program and select “Pin to Start Menu.” When you click on this shortcut tile, say a month from now, Ninite will check your software’s website to see if there is an available update. If there is an update, it will update to the latest version automatically. If not, it moves to the next software title in your list.
